I usually get typical brand name deodorant and antiperspirant, sometimes direct from the maker but usually at a local store. And when I do buy it, it’s usually around $5.
So what would it take for me to try a deodorant that’s almost $60? Maybe a concussion?

Well, I got PATRICKS ND1 High Performance Natural Deodorant, priced at $60 on Amazon for the 75 gram dispenser. It’s $57 with Subscribe and Save, or you can try the 35 gram version ND1D for $29.
Compare that to Old Spice Fiji, which in the 2.6 ounce (73.7g) dispenser is about $12 for a two-pack.
Is PATRICKS ND1 a really good deodorant? Spoiler: Yes. I love it.
Is it a higher quality? Sure.
Is it ten times as good as Old Spice, or worth ten times the price? I can’t really say it is.

The observations
I like the thought of natural ingredients and recycled/recyclable packaging. And the PATRICKS line, designed in Australia, has a very attractive design language.
The fragrance itself is masculine but neither overwhelming nor Axe-grade. The manufacturer describes it as “Italian Bergamot and Neroli cologne.” Before I saw that, I was thinking woodsy, a little earthy, with some freshness to it.
It goes on smooth, although at the risk of some TMI, it may pick up some hair during application.
ND1 has a VERY long-lasting fragrance. I put some on around 6pm, and even after going out for dinner, coming home, sleeping seven or eight hours, and getting up to do my morning ritual, the scent was still pleasant and noticeable.
I was not getting very sweaty, so I can’t say you’d get more than 12-16 hours if you’re moving, or building a shed, or running for your life from a pack of kangaroos, but the fragrance is more noticeable up front and after over half a day than any of my sub-$10 retail choices.
What’s the summary?
PATRICKS ND1 is a great product. It smells great, lasts about twice as long as retail store brands, leans more toward natural ingredients and sustainable packaging, and may make you stand out in a good way.
The price is the pain point. At $60 it’s about ten times the price of my daily sticks, and I could not justify replacing my daily product with this one. However, I’ll use it occasionally, for as long as it lasts, and I might splurge on it once a year.
